Ministry of Love and Justice
The cornerstone of the diaconate being the “eyes and ears, the mouth, heart and the soul of the bishop”. Identifying the needs of the local community is paramount to the deacon, commonly known as the ministry of service. My ministry, even before ordination, has been focused on family. So my focus has been on teaching children, family prep for Baptism and Marriage and helping others live a life of faith hope and love has been paramount. For more click here
Ministry of the Word of God
The ministry of the word for the deacon is far reaching including proclaiming the Gospel, preaching, catechetical instruction, teaching, counseling, instruction of catechumens, giving retreats, reaching out to alienated Catholics and leading parish renewal programs. For more including homilies to here
Ministry of the Liturgy
The liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed and the source from which all power flows (Second Vatican Council). At the Liturgy, the deacon brings the gifts of the people and articulates their needs. The deacon also preforms other liturgical roles including solemnly baptizing, witnessing marriages, bringing Viaticum to the dying and presiding over funerals and burials.
“Do not be anxious on how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the spirit of your Father speaking through you.”
– Matthew 10:19-20
