The Gospel

At Mass one of my most loved responsibilities is proclaiming the Gospel.  Being a herald of the Word of God is immeasurable.  I must also confess that I love to preach.  The opportunity to be the “mouthpiece” of the Holy Spirit is never taken lightly.  A homilist never knows when those hearing his words are in most need of God’s word, either for the first time, for the first time in a long time, or when a time in need.  I believe the best homilists are also very good storytellers – why?   Jesus was a storyteller, teaching His followers through parables – stories.  If I can only be close to our Lord’s storytelling, I will be most grateful.
